the ferry has right of way on sydney harbour, they display an orange diamond at the forward end of the vessel which is a "priority over sail" (local reg)but the colregs state that both vessel must take avasive action when a collision appears inimate. so they both are at fault

I've just read teh second paragraph and exactly the same!!! for goodness sake... RULE 1 in the International (That means everyone) Rules for the Prevention of Collision at Sea (IRPCS) is....Avoid Collision at ALL COSTOF course he WAS OBLIGED
