Rap has the same characteristics. People seem to forget that voice and rytmth can be considered an instrument. That's what rappers do, they stimulate our senses through their voices and lyrics. I don't see how that makes it less music.

Your interpretatiion of music is very basic, simplistic... Music is a form of expression, sentiments, and with harmony and rhythm, applying an instrument. Bach is great, its fucking great, but hey! His music was so mathematical that it seemed to be cold, without feeling and most of all, without a message. It's music, nevertheless. It still represents a time in history, it stimulates our senses. For the most part, rap is shit. Their are a few that are pretty good. Mike Shinoda ( Fort Minor) is decent and there are a few random songs that are good. The rest is shit.
